Burundi President Pays Tribute to Late Imam Khomeini

Burundian President Pierre Nkurunziza and his accompanying delegation on Wednesday attended the mausoleum of the late Imam Khomeini to pay tribute to the Founder of the Islamic Republic.

Caretaker of Iranˈs Ministry of Cooperative, Labor and Social Welfare was accompanying the Burundian president in his visit.

The Burundian delegation then laid a wreath on the tomb of the Father of the Islamic Revolution.

The Burundian president also signed the memorial book of the mausoleum.

President Nkurunziza along with a number of his cabinet members arrived in the Iranian capital on Tuesday.

He is scheduled to meet his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and a number of top officials of the country.

Burundi is a landlocked country in the Great Lakes region of Eastern Africa, bordered by Rwanda to the north, Tanzania to the east and south and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the west.
