Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini married learned and pious lady

After making inquiries and listening to the Imam’s advice and other family members, Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini, may Allah be pleased with him, married Fatema Tabatabai, the daughter of Ayatollah Sultani Tabataba’i.

She belonged to the holy and honorable family of clergymen, whose ancestors were from the well-known Mujtahids of the hawzahs.

The offspring of this blessed union was three sons called Hajj Sayyid Hassan Khomeini, Hajj Sayyid Yasir Khomeini, and Sayyid Ali Khomeini. These beloved ones were the apple of the Imam’s eye and were very dear to him.

Imam Khomeini had highly trusted his learned son during tough years of struggle against the Shah regime and its backers.

It is noteworthy that Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini remained the most trusted figure and right-hand of Imam Khomeini during the tough years of struggle and following the victory of the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

The great Imam and his son deemed the Muslim Ummah a single society and used to attach great significance to issues facing the Muslim world.

Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini passed away 19 years ago in 1995. His services for the Islamic Revolution and the Muslim Ummah will always be remembered by the generations for decades to come:

The son of the grand Ayatollah Khomeini, leader of the Islamic Revolution of Iran, founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran rendered great services before and after the victory in 1979.

The son of Imam Khomeini a trustworthy to Imam and the people and he was someone who was trusted by Imam and meanwhile a great support for the people.

Brother to Ayatollah Mustafa Khomeini, who was also exiled and martyred during the revolution.

He was a person who during his father’s exile, filled his place in Iran and the revolution. A person that during his living only a few understood his beneficial role for the revolution.

He was a connection between Imam and the people.

Brief biography and his contribution of Revolution

The late Hojat al-Islam Sayyid Ahmad Khomeini was born on March 14, 1946 in Qom. He accomplished his primary and secondary education there and then engaged in learning Islamic sciences.

Subsequent to Imam Khomeini’s exile, he secretly departed for Najaf in 1966 to join his father and there he was honored by Imam Khomeini to become a clergyman.

He returned home after a while and by making secure connections between revolutionaries and the leader of the revolution, endeavored to organize active religious forces. Besides these political activities, he diligently continued his religious studies. Having accomplished primary and secondary hawza courses, he benefited from the presence of great teachers inclusive of Ayatollah Soltani (his father-in-law), Ayatollah Haj Morteza Ansari and Ayatollah Shobeiri Zanjani to study high levels of hawza. In 1977, some of his comrades were apprehended by SAVAK and their connection with Sayyid Ahmad was exposed. So he decided to secretly leave Iran for Najaf. It was during the very same flight that he received the news of his honorable brother Ayatollah Sayyid Mostafa Khomeini’s martyrdom. After the victory of the Islamic Revolution, as well, he played a very sensitive revolutionary and social role, as during the first decade of the post-Pahlavi era and in the midst of the Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq war) he was still the most honest and trustworthy advisor of Imam Khomeini and the trustee of his residence and did his best to serve Iranian people and Imam Khomeini. After the demise of Imam Khomeini, conforming the line of velayat-e-faqih (absolute clerical supremacy), he focused all his efforts to preserve his father’s testament and will and always appeared at the frontline of movements to guard the Islamic Revolution and system. Finally, after some years of suffering from the grief of losing his father, as the most terrible injury on his body and soul, he passed away on  March 15, 1995, and his spirit went to meet his creator.
