The events and spiritual ceremonies are being held through the current week in order to highlight the ideals and genuine guidelines of Imam Khomeini, the leader of contemporary Muslim world.
Speakers at the ceremonies on Sunday, described late Ayatullahi Ruhullah Khomeini as a symbol of unity and fight against injustice and its entire ramification in the entire world.
They described late Imam Khomeini as the only revolutionary leader in the world who engineered successful revolution with his ideological directions while on exile.
They added that Imam has contributed immensely in supporting Palestinians and Lebanon against Israel occupation and black people in south Africa against Apartheid in south Africa.
Special messages by the country’s top Shia Muslim cleric, Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, which has been imprisoned by Abuja government, were read at the events.
Amnesty International recently called on the Nigerian government to abide by a court ruling that called for an end to the “unlawful” detention of the prominent Muslim clergy. The UK-based rights group said the government in Nigeria could extend Zakzaky’s detention on trumped-up charges in a bid to justify the crackdown on IMN members.
At the end of ceremonies, several aid packages were announced to help needy people and their families during the blessed month of Ramadan.
