Dr. Mohammad Moghaddam, the head of international department made remarks during a recently held meeting at of the institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works.
The scholar went onto say people supported the Islamic revolution because they wanted to get rid of any tyranny and relieve themselves from dependence on colonial elements.
Dr Moghaddam stressed that the revolution, which resulted in collapse of tyrannical and monarchial rule of the Pahlavi regime, rejected all types of meddling in internal affairs and sought to determine the fate of the country by people themselves.
The Iranian people, who strongly backed Imam Khomeini and supported the revolution, wanted to take their destiny and fate in their own hands, the intellectual stated.
The scholar concluded by saying that Imam established Islamic-Republic system, denounced any type of aggressiveness and promoted democracy, wisdom and rationality.
The remarks come as Millions of Iranians have marked the 38th anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution.
The Islamic revolution under wise leadership of Imam Khomeini put Iran on track of progress and provided grounds for establishment of Islamic-democratic system and guaranteed rights of people from various walks of life.
